Join Kat Fitzpatrick at the beautiful Myrtle Sisters Art Farm for a two-day retreat and encaustic workshop, November 14 and 15 just eight miles from downtown Ocean Springs, north on Washington to Tucker.

You will be introduced to processes and mediums that will transform the wax in different ways, and will gradually introduce color to your work using pigmented wax. By the end of the second day, you will be able to safely set up your own encaustic studio, knowing how and when to use a butane torch, a tacking iron, and a heat gun as well as have a list of resources to take home to help you on your way.

The cost of the workshop is $325 per person and includes the use of encaustic materials, supplies, equipment and accouterments, gourmet lunches for both days, afternoon snack and aperitifs.

Using a limited palette to start, we will loosen up and learn to flow with the wax. There is a deep peace that comes when we learn to stop fighting the medium and allow it to lead the way. I'll show you how to work with these "surprises" as they unfold. You will be introduced to processes and mediums that will transform the wax in different ways. We will gradually introduce color to our work using pigmented wax, caran d'ache, R+H pigment sticks, dry pastels and collage papers.

By the end of the second day, you will be able to safely set up your own encaustic studio, knowing how and when to use a butane torch, a tacking iron and a heat gun as well as have a list of resources to take home to help you on your way. Please join us for a day of stillness, surprises, laughter, discovery and delicious food. "Let it Flow".
